Today I sit down and read a recent blog post, discuss why Christians need to value the sacraments, and even return to one of my favorite topics (Gnosticism!).

Thank you for talking about sacraments! The conservative Protestant tradition I’ve grown up in has always avoided the topic, I think in an effort to avoid sounding too charismatic or Catholic. But the New Testament doesn’t speak about the physical signs of communion, baptism, etc. as if they were just empty symbols with no spiritual reality to give them purpose. Paul really believed something was happening in baptism besides just being covered in water. The Gospel writers spend too much time describing the Last Supper, and Luke and Paul place too much emphasis on the practice of communion in the early church, for the bread and wine to just be a simple reminder of Jesus’ death. Anyway, I really enjoyed the podcast! God bless you!
